NEW PASTOR ANNOUNCEMENT
God is doing a new thing
As our Staff-Parish Relations Committee Chair, Wilson Hux, shared in worship, Cave Spring UMC has been projected for a pastoral change this summer.
Pastor Lauren has been projected to become the lead pastor of Woodlake UMC in Chesterfield, Virginia. Her last Sunday at Cave Spring UMC will be June 16.
Rev. Joshua King is projected to become the new lead pastor at Cave Spring UMC beginning July 1, 2024.
Joshua graduated from George Mason University (bachelor’s degree in social work and minor in IT, 2008), and Eastern Mennonite Seminary (M.Div., 2011). He has served several congregations and many roles in all levels of the United Methodist Church. Currently he serves as the Conference Secretary of the Virginia Annual Conference, a member of the Conference Camp and Retreat Taskforce, and the Board President of Camp Overlook. He has also served the communities where he has lived as a Firefighter/Technician and Chaplain. He is the founder of the Franklin County Chaplains Corp in Franklin County, VA. In his free time, he loves spending time in the outdoors through hiking/backpacking, rock climbing, and camping. Joshua also enjoys playing Frost Haven or any other game with friends. You will even see him from time to time out riding his motorcycle. Joshua is the loving husband of his kindergarten sweetheart, Jackie King—they were married August 9, 2008, and share their life together with their sons Parker (11) and Aaron (8).
Information about saying farewell to Pastor Lauren and opportunities to welcome Pastor Joshua will be shared in the coming weeks. Please be in prayer for them, their families, and our church in this season of change.
A Place That You Can Belong
We are committed to being a radically loving and affirming community of faith. We want to “do life” together by building authentic relationships that transcend our differences and embrace the fact that we are all loved by God. We promise to worship, grow, and serve side by side with all who seek God in this place.
We reject efforts to discriminate and exclude others from the body of Christ based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, ability, sex, gender identity and expression, or sexual orientation. We welcome individuals from all walks of life to bring their whole selves to experience life together as a beloved community.
We invite you to worship, celebrate, laugh, cry, mourn, and work with us in welcoming the Kingdom of God at Cave Spring United Methodist Church!
OUR MISSION
Our ministry at Cave Spring UMC is focused on these three anchors:
EXPERIENCE GOD
To experience God through worship and fellowship
GROW TOGETHER
To grow together by connecting and building faithful relationships
SERVE OTHERS
To serve others through service and mission to others
What Our Worshippers Are Saying
Beginning in August our family began “Church Shopping”. After an exhaustive search including Baptist, Wesleyan & multiple UMC churches God led us to CSUMC. We chose this church for several reasons: there are lots of families with children; children’s programs; youth program and music ministry.
- Karen HamannMy husband and I have worshipped at CSUMC since 1990 and raised three children in this church. Everything about CSUMC draws us closer to Christ and his worshipping family. Outreach provides opportunities for service; classes and small groups provide opportunities to lead and to learn. Pastors educate, encourage and uplift us ~ besides the fact that their messages are amazing! I can’t imagine worshipping anywhere else.
