Primary Focus

The primary focus of Cue the Conversation is to create a space where participants can engage in thoughtful discussions about current events, culture, and faith. This group encourages open dialogue, where diverse perspectives are welcomed, and everyone can deepen their understanding of how faith intersects with the world around them. The goal is to foster meaningful connections, challenge assumptions, and grow together through conversation.

Wesley Hall; Sundays, after 9 AM worship.

Group Structure

Cue the Conversation follows a flexible group structure, meeting weekly for open-ended discussions. Each session begins with a brief introduction to the topic, often drawn from current events or cultural issues, followed by a guided conversation led by a facilitator. The group encourages active participation from all members, allowing for various viewpoints and insights. Discussions are designed to be informal yet thought-provoking, with time for personal reflections and group sharing. The facilitator ensures the conversation flows naturally while focusing on how faith shapes our understanding of the world.

Fun Fact

A fun fact about Cue the Conversation is that the group loves to relax in the rocking chairs at the back of Wesley Hall while having their thought-provoking discussions. It adds a laid-back vibe to the deep conversations!

Average of 10 to 15 folks per week.

Typical activities in Cue the Conversation include discussions centered around the Live a Better Story framework, where participants explore how to apply faith to everyday life and current events. The group often starts with a video or reading, followed by an open dialogue that encourages sharing personal stories and reflections. Activities may also include small group breakouts for deeper conversation, practical applications for living out one’s faith, and time for collaborative brainstorming on how to make a positive impact in the community.

Group History

Began over 50 years ago, initially led by Charlie Sult, then George Hawes. Leadership has since rotated among members.

Social & service Activities

Cue the Conversation participants occasionally engage in service activities that align with the themes discussed in class, like supporting local community initiatives or volunteering together. They also enjoy informal social gatherings, often meeting up outside of class for coffee or dinner to continue the conversations in a more relaxed setting. These activities help strengthen connections and put their discussions into action.
